Abstract

The study is based on content analysis of investigative reporting during lawyers' movement of Pakistan in the year 2007 in Pakistan. The movement for restoration of deposed Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry has been selected for analysis due to the unique nature of this movement in Country's legal and political history. This was the first time that the chief justice shown exemplary courage to refuse the orders of autocratic ruler of his time and remained steadfast to his view-point.
The lawyers' movement met success and judges of apex judiciary were restored also because that movement had enjoyed massive public support as lawyers, politicians, civil society, and mass media played very active role in strengthening of the movement. At one point mass media had to face imposition of emergency when all private television channel were sent off the air and newspapers were put under strict observations. The topic of the research was selected in order to find out the nature of investigative news items related to the period of dismissal and restoration of Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry.
