Abstract

The present study is conducted with the historical approach to reveal the ulterior facts lying behind the killings of journalists when the world has entered to a liberal phase where the media and journalism has been freed. The data collection process followed the methodology of qualitative content analysis using
the cluster sampling for analysisThe country has witnessed martial law and democratic eras during 1994 to 2015. During these twenty years the tragedies of Cargill war and 9/11 had occurred. After the destruction during 9/11, Pakistan entered and played a major role in war against Terrorism. Pakistan fought against Taliban and deployed armed forces in major parts of the country that did several operations against Taliban to eradicate them from the country. During the whole time, the thing which lacked in the country was the flow of information. The private media had gotten the full boom. The media was seemingly free and liberal but the journalists were being threatened covertly by the political parties, pressure groups, and religious groups. Since the inception of Pakistan the journalism in Pakistan was severely censored and restricted. But the situation has not changed much since the last twenty years as the reports strongly suggest that the journalists in Pakistan are threatened and killed for breaking the facts and sincerely performing their duty
