Abstract

Ibn-e-Insha is one of the most important columnists among Urdu Column Writers. He started his columns when tradition of column writing in Urdu Journalism was not so established and it was going through the period of development; however many prominent names were surfaced in the field of humorous columns writhing which include Majeed Lahori, Ibrahim Jalees, Mushfeq Khoaja and Inam Durrani etc. However the style of Ibn-e-Insha was unique among them. His style got popularity and appreciation from common man. His columns are used as reference in literature and journalism.
This research is the study of the Ibn-e-Insha's book, based on his columns, "Urdu ki Akhri Kitab" (The Last Book of Urdu) the columns are based on the 1970 and 1971 political and social crisis and issues. These columns were published in the Daily Jang with the name of "Dakhal Dar Maqulat". The events of that era were beautifully described in the form of parables. Ibn-e-Insha has collectively addressed the general attitudes and trends of the respective eras, that had given rise to the societal deterioration. This study aims to research and record the different aspects of the book "Urdu ki Akhri Kitab" (The Last Book of Urdu) for the future generations and give tribute to the writer Ibn-e-Insha as humorist.
