This paper seeks to study ‘Role of Media in the Fifth Generation Warfare: The Indian Information War against Pakistan.’ Wars can turn the wheel of history. Technological developments have made the media a significant tool to frame perceptions. Pakistan is located in an important strategic location, where two global and regional powers are fisting for supremacy. The traditional rival has been creating fault lines within Pakistan. Where conventional war is unlikely between the nuclear-powered neighbors of South Asia, non-conventional means of war are preferred. As a result, they are employing fifth generation warfare (5GW) tools against Pakistan to destabilize it internally and to achieve their nefarious designs. Adversaries are using media tools to spread misinformation, disinformed reports, and false news. India has been using the media as a tool of warfare against Pakistan, which includes the recent example of exposing DisinfoLab. The Indian disinformation campaigns against Pakistan are aimed at creating a false perception internationally and creating an institutional divide domestically. Finally, the paper would highlight the challenges of 5GW faced by Pakistan and would devise a national media strategy to counter Indian information warfare.
